2027: Adamawa PDP Elects, Inaugurates New State, LG, Ward Executives

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Adamawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has finalised the election and inauguration of new executive committees at the state, local government and ward levels, aimed at repositioning the party in the State.

The inauguration of the state executive committee, which took place at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola on Tuesday, was conducted after the successful completion of the Local Government and Ward Congresses.

Chairman of the Congress Electoral Committee for the state, local government and ward congresses, Hon Jalo Danga, while performing the inauguration, declared that the exercise was conducted peacefully and in accordance with the party’s constitution and approved electoral guidelines.

Jalo Danga said the successful completion of the congresses and subsequent inauguration of the executives had provided the party with substantive leadership structures across the three administrative levels.

While commenting on PDP members across the state for their cooperation, discipline and support, which he said contributed to the peaceful and transparent conduct of the congresses, he noted that
exercise has enabled the party to meet the constitutional and electoral requirements for having duly constituted executives at all levels.

Danga charged the newly inaugurated executives to uphold the constitution of the party, maintain discipline and discharge their responsibilities with integrity, stressing that the stability and electoral fortunes of the PDP would depend largely on the quality of leadership at the grassroots.

He urged the new executives to avoid actions capable of undermining the unity of the party and instead work collectively to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of others, the new state chairman, Belmont Dogo, thanked party members for their resilience, orderly conduct and support throughout the congress process.

Dogo described his emergence and that of other executives as a responsibility rather than a privilege, pledging to provide inclusive and disciplined leadership.

He said, “It is with great humility, gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today on behalf of the newly inaugurated State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamawa State.

“I sincerely appreciate the National Executive of our great party for coming to Adamawa State to formally inaugurate us as the State Executive Committee. We are deeply honoured by your presence and grateful for the confidence reposed in us to serve the party at this important time.

“Our inauguration today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the administration of our party in Adamawa State. We fully recognise that the positions entrusted to us are not privileges but responsibilities.

“We therefore pledge to discharge our duties with humility, fairness, consultation, discipline and unwavering commitment to the principles and constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Also speaking, Director-General of the Maurice Vunobolki Campaign Organisation, Adamu Hammantukur Ribadu, described the completion of the congresses as a major step towards rebuilding the party’s grassroots machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence that the party would mount a formidable campaign across the state, mobilise its grassroots structures and compete strongly for victory in the 2027 governorship election.
